University Of Alberta Scholarships for International Student 2018-2019

International students wishing to study in Canada can now receive University of Alberta Scholarships! Located in Edmonton, the university was established in 1908 by Rutherford and Tory. Rutherford was the first premier of Alberta, and Tory was the university’s first president. It started with a class of only 45 students, but over hundred years later, it became a huge institution with over 31,000 undergraduate students and 7,000 graduate students. Since its founding, University of Alberta has produced over 260,000 alumni.

Scholarships You Will Be Automatically Considered for after Receiving Admission to University of Alberta
University of Alberta International Country Scholarship

Field of Study: Open

Value: up to $5,000

Quantity available: Up to 95

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta who are studying on a Study Permit. Selection based on academic standing with preference given to students from University of Alberta target regions. Students sponsored by a third party are ineligible.

Application procedure: You will be considered for this award after you have received admission to the University of Alberta.

Decision timeline: University of Alberta International Country Scholarship offers will be made on a rolling basis at or near the time of offer of admission.

University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship Competition

Field of Study: Open

Value: Variable

Quantity available: $1,000 up to $9,500

Decision timeline: University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship offers will be made throughout the year. Recipients will be notified of their award offer after receiving an admission

Field of Study: Open

Value: Up to $9,000 payable over four years

Quantity available: Variable

Conditions: Awarded to students with superior academic achievement entering into their first undergraduate degree program, studying on a Student Visa Permit. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement. Should a renewable scholarship be offered, receipt of funding for the second, third, or fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load

Scholarships Requiring a Separate Application

International Entrance Leadership Scholarship

Field of Study: Open

Value: $5,000

Quantity available: Up to 8

Conditions: Awarded to student(s) with superior academic achievement entering their first year of an undergraduate degree program and who are studying on a Study Permit. Selection based on leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities and academic standing.

How to apply: In order to apply for scholarships, you must first apply for admission to a degree program at the University of Alberta. You will receive a CCID and password when you apply for admission and must use this to access the awards application. Students applying for this scholarship can apply through the Major International Entrance Scholarship in the application portal

University of Alberta Centenary Scholarship

Field of Study: Open
Value: Variable from $20,000; payable over four years

Quantity available: Up to 5

Conditions: Awarded to students on a Study Permit with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated leadership qualities based on involvement in extracurricular and community activities. Renewal of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta while studying on a Study Permit. Students must have less than 24 IB, AP or A-level credits. Transfer students are not eligible for this scholarship.

Recipient(s) of this scholarship are ineligible to receive the University of Alberta China, India or USA Centenary Scholarships.
