Eastern Michigan National Scholars Program Scholarship for International Student 2018-2019

National Scholars Program (NSP) Scholarship

In an effort to attract talented students from around the world, Eastern Michigan University offers the National Scholars Program (NSP) Scholarship for qualified international students. You may qualify for the scholarship if you meet the following qualifications:

• Freshman students with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale receive a renewable award of $17,181 (the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition) for up to four years
• Transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (tabulated from all post-secondary institutions attended) on a 4.0 scale and have at least 30 college credits receive a renewable award of $17,181 (the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition in a prorated formula according to the number of credits transferred to EMU as follows):

o Sophomore (25-55 credits) = 6 semesters of eligibility

o Junior (56-84 credits) = 4 semester of eligibility
o Senior (85+ credits) = 2 semesters of eligibility
*SAP = Satisfactory Academic Progress: requires that students earn passing grades in a minimum of 67% of the credit hours they take. Grades of W, I, N, NC or repeated classes are not earned.

• Students must be admitted as a non-resident for tuition purposes
Students are automatically considered for the NSP scholarship when reviewed for admission. This scholarship is available to new (not already enrolled) EMU students. In order to be considered, students should be admitted prior to the Financial Aid priority deadline (July 1st/November 1st). Students who have already received a Bachelor’s degree are not eligible. Students receiving a government/agency scholarship are not eligible. The NSP award is posted to student accounts in September and January (fall and winter semesters).

 

Graduate

National Scholars Program This scholarship is awarded through your Admissions application to your first Master’s degree program, and is only awarded to non-resident students. It is recommended that you apply early because funding is limited (Feb. 15 for fall or Oct. 15 for winter). To be awarded, Graduate students must have at least a 3.6 undergraduate GPA and cannot have previously earned Master’s degree. To receive payment, Graduate students must enroll in at least 8 credit hours each semester and maintain a 3.2 cumulative EMU GPA. The graduate award is renewable for up to 2 years or for a maximum of 32 credit hours. The NSP is only awarded upon admission to students with non-resident admission status and award only applies to courses that are charged non-resident tuition (i.e., not online classes). If students receive another award that pays tuition and fees (such as, athletic aid or a Graduate Assistant ship) or their residency status changes, the NSP offer is null and void.

EMU Success Scholarship This grant is awarded through your Admissions application to your first Master’s degree program, and is only awarded upon admission to EMU to non-resident students. It is recommended that you apply early because funding is limited (Feb. 15 for fall or Oct. 15 for winter). To be awarded, graduate students must have at least a 3.2 undergraduate GPA and cannot have previously earned Master’s degree. To receive payment, students must enroll in at least 8 credit hours each semester and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative EMU GPA. The award is renewable for up to 2 years or for a maximum of 32 credit hours. The EMU Success Scholarship is only awarded upon admission to students with non-resident admission status and the award only applies to courses that are charged non-resident tuition (i.e., not online classes). If students receive another award that pays tuition and fees (such as, a Graduate Assistant ship) or their residency status changes, the EMU Success offer is null and void.
